Before colonisation Australia was made up of over 500 different language groups. Today, 228 years after the British invasion, all Australian Indigenous land is still being violently occupied by colonial powers. The Australian government has time and time again shown its true colours whilst committing unspeakable acts of genocide. To this very day there are laws in place directly targeting the very existence of the Indigenous people of this land, upholding an apartheid between Indigenous Australians and the white colonisers. This apartheid is similar to, and in some ways exceeds, that of the South African apartheid.
In recent years the Australian government has made very tokenistic efforts to veil the atrocities committed. Despite this the land that was cared for, for upwards of 100,000 years, is being destroyed to create capital for a select few and to satisfy the insatiable hunger of the west.
Australia is no doubt the lucky country for some, however for the majority of Indigenous peoples who live here it is a hell on earth.
lyrics
Land stolen
Taken away from those who protected
not just dirt
but an ageless culture
the oldest, destroyed, in the blink of an eye
the oldest, destroyed, in the blink of an eye
Lives taken away
for the precious soil
Luxury of the west
luxury prevails
Apologies were made
titles were signed
this all means nothing
Luxury Prevails
C'est ce degré de magnificence qu'Obsidian Tongue vise dans A Nest of Ravens in the Throat of Time. Jordan Vauvert
